In the near future, professionals will be required to integrate sustainability principles and practices  of solid waste into every day practice. The course aims to expose students to key sustainability principles that are transforming professional practice across all key sectors in China, highlighting the current state of sustainability in industrial solid waste, and considering how the principles translate into sustainable built environment and engineering practice. This course  will describe new knowledge that fundamentally shifts a person’s understanding of the field of study. Through the sequential exploration of E-waste, municiple solid waste incineration, gypsum from flue gas desulfurization, we will navigate the field of sustainble practice as it is emerging recently. Students will consider how their view of sustainable practice shifts over the semester, and implications for this in their current and future workplace.
